What we will not tell you

Four claims are on nearly every gold-plated listing in this market. We do not use any of them, and here is why.

It is not 18K

It is PVD gold plating over stainless steel. Anyone selling you 18K gold at this price is not selling you 18K gold. We quote the material, not a karat number, because plating thickness and karat are different things and the second one gets used to imply the first.

It is not nickel-free

Almost no plated jewellery is, ours included. Stainless steel releases trace nickel, and “below the legal limit” is not the same as “absent.” We are not going to claim a word we cannot stand behind.

It is not hypoallergenic

Nobody can honestly promise that about plated jewellery. A brand in this market had to publicly take that word back. We would rather never use it than have to withdraw it.

We do not call it waterproof

That is a word for watches. What we will say is what it actually does: shower in it, swim in it, sweat in it. Water-resistant is the honest word — made to stay on through water, not to live underwater.

What we will tell you

What is it made of?

A 316L stainless steel core with PVD gold plating. Not brass, not a plated alloy. The gold is bonded to the steel in a vacuum chamber rather than dipped in a tank. No plated piece lasts forever, ours included — so we back it instead of promising it.

Has any of it been tested?

One piece. The Pavé Hearts Bracelet is third-party tested to EU REACH limits for lead, cadmium and nickel release. One out of six — we are not going to stretch that across the range, and a test result is not the same thing as a promise.

Why does it cost AED 139–189 when I can find gold-plated jewellery for 79?

Three reasons, and you can decide if they are worth it.

  • What is underneath. Ours is 316L stainless steel all the way through. When gold sits on top of brass, sweat reaches the brass, and that is what leaves the green line. There is no brass under this gold.
  • How the gold goes on. Ours is PVD, bonded to the steel in a vacuum chamber rather than dipped in a tank. It costs more to do, and it is the process we are willing to put a replacement promise behind.
  • The replacement. At this price we can afford to replace a piece that fails, out of our own stock, without arguing about it. At AED 79 nobody can — which is why brands at that price offer a return window instead.

Do you run sales?

No. A brand that replaces any piece that fails and also discounts every other week is telling you the price was never real. Ours is. There is no code and there will not be one.

What happens if it fades or breaks?

We replace it. Message us on WhatsApp at 054 400 7544 with a photo. No return window, no store credit, nothing posted back. Full terms are on the guarantee page, including the limits — one replacement per piece, and it does not cover loss or accidents.

Can I swim in the pearl hoops?

No, and we would rather say so. The steel handles everything the rest of the range does. The freshwater pearl does not — chlorine, salt water and perfume will dull it over time. Every other piece in the range goes in the water with you.

Why no rings?

Sizing goes wrong, and a size exchange is exactly the kind of friction our guarantee would have to absorb. Rings come when we can back them the same way we back everything else.

How fast is delivery, and what does it cost?

Can I shower and swim in it?

Yes — that is what it is built for. Shower, swim, sweat, sea water. We describe the pieces as water-resistant rather than waterproof, because that is the honest word: they are made to stay on through water, not to be submerged for a living. Rinse with fresh water after the sea or the pool and they last longer.

What is it actually made of?

Is it real gold?

It is gold plating over stainless steel, not solid gold — and we price it accordingly. We do not quote a karat figure, because a karat number describes the gold used in the plating bath and tells you nothing about how long the finish lasts. What tells you that is the steel underneath, the PVD process, and what happens if it fails.

Will it irritate my skin?

316L stainless steel is what sits against your skin. Our Pavé Hearts Bracelet has been third-party tested to EU REACH limits for lead, cadmium and nickel release.

What we will not tell you is that our pieces are nickel-free or hypoallergenic. Stainless steel does release trace nickel, and under the legal limit is not the same as none. If you have a diagnosed nickel allergy, we would rather you knew that before you bought than after.

We make no skin-safety claims at all for our earrings. Pierced jewellery is held to a stricter release limit than everything else, and we do not hold test data for those pieces — so we say nothing rather than guess.
