Care
The short version: you don't have to take it off.
These pieces are made to be worn continuously. Shower in them, swim in them, sweat in them. The care below isn't a list of rules you'll be held to — the guarantee covers normal wear either way. It's just what makes plating last longer.
What helps
- Rinse after the sea or the pool. Fresh water, then pat dry. Salt and chlorine left sitting on a surface for days is the one thing worth avoiding.
- Put jewellery on last. After perfume, sunscreen and moisturiser have dried, not before.
- Store pieces apart. The fastest way to wear plating is to let chains rub against each other in a bag. Use the pouch it came in.
- Wipe it now and then. A soft dry cloth. That's it.
What actually damages plating
- Abrasion — sand, a gym bar, another chain in the same pocket.
- Harsh chemicals — bleach, acetone, oven cleaner, undiluted disinfectant.
- Polishing cloths and silver-dip solutions. They're designed to remove a surface layer, and the gold is the surface layer. Don't use them.
